Artist Statement

My work focuses on the pursuit of progression. It is the never-ending struggle we all go through to better ourselves and our situations. This struggle naturally comes with hardships and pitfalls. In short, it is about life. All the artwork is influenced by personal events, and struggles, be it in relationships, professional growth, or personal setbacks. I treat each piece as a personal allegorical representation of my successes and failures to explore my personal and emotional nature. In my work, you will see recurring themes, such as a person reaching out for someone or something. Often it will be a light or sun or moon. To me, the light represents achieving our untapped potential. The idealized self that we could manifest if we could only reach it. Yet somehow it remains forever out of our grasp. But like Sisyphus, we continue to push the boulder up the hill. β€œIt is the struggle itself that is most important. We must strive to be more than we are. It does not matter that we will not reach our ultimate goal. The effort yields its own rewards.” (Gene Roddenberry)
