I am a figurative artist as well as a narrative painter. I approach art with my own sense of aesthetic value, choosing to emphasize certain areas and slightly omit others. I use this visual emphasis, the composition of the figure, and the environment to guide the viewer's eye through the image. I approach each piece as a new problem that needs to be solved, and in doing so each piece guides me as it develops from an idea to the finished product. In my narrative work I try to achieve depth and atmosphere to portray a specific mood. Drama is a recurring theme in my narrative work. I try to entice the viewer by building visual tension, excitement, and intrigue to create a scene. These scenes can convey a simple idea through imagery I depict or through symbols I choose to incorporate. On occasion I find personal concepts subliminally appear in my work that I did not originally intend, although these concepts can often allude the viewer I feel they add more sincerity to my work.
